Sleep isn't really regarded as that important for your health - if you get roughly 7 hours or so, that is considered "normal". However, I really think there are massive issues with this all too common rhetoric.
There are a few factors which can improve your sleep: Getting more sleep, and improving the quality of that sleep.
Getting more sleep
- You have to get minimum of 9h of sleep per day
- The most optimal time depends on you, but you should wake up naturally, without alarm or anything else.
- If you cannot sleep for a longer time (9h+), see the improving quality of your sleep section, and maybe force yourself to sleep earlier.
Improving the quality of your sleep
- Red light before bed
- No coffee or caffeine at all
- Other dietary importances should be listed here
- No blue light or bright light 1-2h before bed (use incandescent lightbulbs at low colour temperature and brightness)
- Drink wark milk
- Eat a spoon of (raw) honey or mix it into the milk. Make sure you get good honey and not the store bought sugar water mix
- Take 10k Vitamin D per day (mix it into the milk if you are using oil based), if insufficient levels of Vitamin D load up 100-500k Vitamin D in one dose
- Sleep on the floor (better for your spine and more comfortable after a while - improves the quality of sleep
- Turn off all electronics/EMF inducing devices (WiFi, etc)
- Redshift software to minimise blue light exposure from laptop screens
It is very important that you dream when you sleep. If you dream and remember the dream, that is a good sign of the quality of your sleep.
Dreams
Dreaming is one of the coolest elements of human nature and its a shame that manu people do not visibly remember the dreams including me. I am actually making this article to improve my own sleep but i thought i may as well publish it to help others. When we dream, we create infinite scenarios of our lives and things that could happen. We all have bad but also good dreams, dreams where we fantasise, where we inspire ideas, solve problems, act out things, etc.
